Attendance Policies
Students are responsible to be on time and present from the beginning to the end of each class. All attendance, tardiness and absences are recorded. The instructor must be notified in advance in case of absence. Students failing to maintain satisfactory attendance will be counseled by the administrator and if no improvement is demonstrated, may be dismissed.
Students are expected to attend all scheduled classes. Absences should not exceed 20% of total class time. Students who fail to meet the overall 80% attendance requirement will be placed on probation. Once the 80% attendance requirement is subsequently met, the student is removed from probation.
Tardiness is a disruption of a good learning environment and is strongly discouraged. If the student failed to notify the instructor of his/her arrival, the student will be considered absent for that day. Students arriving 15 min. or later after the scheduled start of class are considered tardy. Excessive tardiness affects grades.
When it is absolutely necessary to be absent or tardy, the student must inform the school by calling the school and speaking with a staff member or leave a voice mail message. Students who are absent may make up the class by making special arrangements with the instructor. Prior to receiving their certificate of completion, the student will need to make up missed classes
When circumstances demand and in cases of medical emergency, the director may grant permission for a leave of absence of up to 4-weeks. Students must receive approval from the Director to re-enter class after a leave of absence.
